Carers and Parents. How are you? (No really, how are you?)

Who cares for those caring? What is it like to support our young people having mental health wobbles as carers and parents? What wonderful things have you found to work?’

It can be hard for young people being failed by the mental health system, but at the Balmy Army we also know that system is failing the carers and parents of young people too.

Literally there aren’t really any instructional manuals for this, it is no wonder carers and parents are feeling it too, and it can be really isolating and scary. So let’s not do that, let’s do something different. Because, why not?

SO the Balmy Army want to check in with you? ‘How are you? No really, how are you?’

Carers and parents of young people with mental health: We’d love for you to come to our action lab, for a special performance by Balmy Army facilitator Evyn Seaton-Mooney followed by a chat, pizza and a space to be with other carers and parents trying to figure out how to do better at this. The event will be facilitated by people involved in Balmy Army who are also carers, parents or have experience of good and bad adult modeling.

It will be kind, thoughtful, hopeful, sad, angry, non-judgemental, a beginning and hopefully useful.
