Manchester Schools Linking Programme
Schools Linking is a national programme led by The Linking Network and backed by the DfE, DLUHC and Pears Foundation. It is rooted in research into what works in building confidence in contact in children and has been running since 2001. Originating in Bradford, it now takes place in 29 local authorities across the country.
This is the first year a Linking Project has been run in Greater Manchester and HOME and Manchester City Council are excited to work with The Linking Network to facilitate an enriching, exciting and important journey for schools and young people.
This project is currently being run for Year 4 pupils. Each participating Year 4 class is linked with a class from another school, creating a curriculum rich link between schools across the district.
It supports achievement, wellbeing and builds trust & empathy between pupils from different schools. It is designed to be manageable for teachers, who are invited to attend two CPD days throughout the academic year, and impactful, thoughtful, and enjoyable for children.
The programme also involves fully funded artist-led workshops delivered by HOME’s Creative Development team. Please contact Saffron Rain for more information: saffron.rain@homemcr.org
Artsmark and Arts Award
Artsmark is the creative quality standard for schools, accredited by Arts Council England.
Arts Award inspires young people to grow their arts and leadership talents: it’s creative, valuable and accessible.
As a registered Artsmark Partner and an Arts Award Supporter we can support your school on your Artsmark journey and your students achieve their Arts Award through our Study Days, Shows, Screenings, Exhibitions and Events.
We can also arrange free tours and signpost project work which offers Secondary Schools and FE colleges the opportunity create original art.
MADE Manchester
We have partnered with other cultural organisations and educators across Manchester to run participation projects and create free resources. These are made in collaboration and consultation with local teachers to help deliver a creative curriculum, and inspire new ways to learn and understand.
We have a Schools and Colleges programme for 14-19 year olds who are studying Modern Foreign Languages and Film and Media. We also screen foreign language films throughout the year.
