Film
Manchester Animation Festival returns this weekend for its sixth edition with UK previews and premieres of animated short and feature films from across the globe along with masterclasses, talks, workshops and an international competition of short films.
This year MAF is 100% online so there has never been a better time to indulge in all things animated. Feature films include Wolfwalkers, Josep and Calamity, a Childhood of Martha Jane Cannary, and as always there’s also a full programme of shorts, Q&As and other events.

Theatre
livestreams of shows by Javaad Alipoor and Bert & Nasi have been hugely popular so far, and coming up next we have Beats and Elements’ awesome High Rise eState of Mind.
A stunning new show from the makers of No Milk For Foxes, DenMarked and BAC Beatbox Academy’s Frankenstein, High Rise eState of Mind exposes young people’s fears of where they will live, will they ever afford to live somewhere clean and safe, and is a home just a modern day pipe dream for many? Is it a fair race or is the system fundamentally f****d?
Beats and Elements tell difficult to swallow truths through a dystopian lens, using grime, beat boxing, hip hop, live looping and MCing. Click here to find out more.
Visual art
You might have seen the news this week that our smash hit online comic strip Our Plague Year, which has been enjoyed by readers from across the world, will return in December to rejoin the villagers of Nick Burton’s fictionalised Eyam as they battle against the Great Plague. There’s no better time to get up to date with Nick’s satirical take on human behaviour in the midst of a crisis, and you can read the story so far by clicking here.
And if you didn’t get a chance to enjoy our triple reopening exhibitions before we had to close them again, never fear!
