17-year-old Tato lives in a poor barrio of Medellin, Colombia, spending his time rapping, tagging and hanging out with his two best friends, La Crespa and Pitu. When the teenagers run into serious trouble after an altercation with the local gang members, Tato grasps his only escape route and heads for his grandfather’s picturesque gladioli farm in the mountains. 78-year-old Octavio is not best pleased to see his long-lost grandson, but a bond gradually forms between these two generations, and two ways of life, offering Tato some solace as loss and loneliness colour his struggle to survive, and to find his own identity as he transitions to the adult world.
