Juan is a shy and rather solitary man in his fifties, who works as a prison officer. He is increasingly drawn to silently observe, through the security monitors, the weekly visits of a mother to her son. Beyond these prison visits, Berta’s subdued life is limited to working from home and caring for her bedridden husband. The tentative relationship that develops between Juan and Berta may be founded on an initial untruth – that Juan is also a parent of an inmate – but will it be just the tonic that these two lonely souls need? Beautifully filmed in a palate of greys and greens, with fantastic performances from the two leads, this is a film to gently tickle your imagination.
