In every attempt at subversion, there are two moments: the one just before, full of doubt and fear, and the one just after, when all that remains is to run and find a safe place, maybe in memory. During the clandestine political struggle to overthrow the Franco regime, the most important thing was to know how to wait. Every other quality was secondary. Keeping a cool head not only helped you wait for the perfect moment, but also to react in the right way when things went wrong.
This is the second short film from author and filmmaker Luis E. Parés, an expert on Spanish emigration, exile and archive cinema. He currently works as a programmer at the Seville Film Festival and is conducting research for his first feature film, on Spanish cinema in exile and flamenco.
