A vibrant coming-of-age story set during Carnival, in the atmospheric borderlands of Argentina and Bolivia. Cabra, a rebellious teenager, silently resents his mother and her boyfriend and takes refuge in honing his prodigious talent for dancing the malambo – the gauchos’ folkloric tap dance. But just as he’s preparing for an all-important regional competition, his convict father, El Corto, shows up on temporary release and turns Cabra’s world upside down. In another great performance by the ever-sinister Chilean actor Alfredo Castro, El Corto seduces all around him with his easy charm and charismatic joie-de-vivre, but can he ever do the right thing? And how can Cabra choose between his passion for the malambo and loyalty to his errant father?
