Colombia, 1998. After a long night shift, Amparo returns home to find her children are not there. She soon finds out that her son has been drafted during an army raid and will be sent to the front in a notorious war zone near the border. His fate seems sealed. With only two days until his departure, and with nothing much on her side, Amparo embarks on a race against time to free her son in a society ruled by corruption. A masterfully subdued but powerful debut, with a talented non-professional actor in the lead role, this is a semi-autobiographical tale based on the director’s own mother as well as the real accounts of many others.
