Manchester Open Door Tour with Claire Dorsett

Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled. Bookers will be contacted in due course.

Join artist Claire Dorsett for a tour of the Manchester Open Exhibition. In this tour, Claire will explore those works she was instinctually drawn to on her first visit to the show and will offer ways to start talking about the art we like, in an attempt to dig into what we think might be going on in the work itself.

All of the works highlighted are by artists that she wasn’t aware of previously, highlighting the Manchester Open as a site to discover new work; regardless of how creatively active you think you might be within the city already.

About Claire Dorsett
Claire Dorsett is a visual artist with a studio in Manchester, UK. She describes her work as “Talking out loud, both physically and visually, to myself but also hopefully to you.” and her paintings are often direct, bold and confident, with a need to express and an attempt to connect edging through the seeming assuredness.

Originally from Merseyside, she graduated from her BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting at The University of Brighton in 2007 and from MFA Painting at The Slade School of Fine Art in 2010. Since then she has exhibited both nationally and internationally and her work is held in both public and private collections worldwide.

Recent exhibitions include ‘Gargling with Jelly’, Thames-Side Studios Gallery, London; ’Companion’ curated by Gayle Meikle at Workplace Foundation, Newcastle and ‘Fayre Share Fayre’, curated by Nat Pitt for A Modest Show at the Whitworth Gallery, Manchester.
