Seiriol Davies and Matthew Blake presents

ACTUALQUEST

Adventure, game, fantasy

Welcome Traveller!

Ask yourself: what if? What if there was a parallel universe floating 3cm underneath the surface of the world, right where you’re sat right now? Another world occupying the same space as your house / flat / caravan, but which is also huge and epic; in which you could do great deeds and take actual control of your destiny? What if such a thing was real?

Ha! Trick question! It is real, and you’re going there right now – put your trousers on…

ACTUALQUEST is an interactive, immersive, fantasy musical that is set in and around your very own home; all you need is a smart device, about 25 minutes and a giddy sense of adventure!

Inspired by fantasy games of the 90s, from the masterpiece TV gameshow Knightmare to the brilliantly tacky VHS board games like Atmosfear, ACTUALQUEST is a wonky, gaudy, hilarious adventure that shows us how, even when we can feel totally out of control, there is always joy and hope to be found.

The piece is largely audio-based, so let your imagination – led by powerful guides Peter and David McWizard – literally transform your home into the parallel universe of PretendyLand.

To get the best experience in PretendyLand, it’s recommended that you play on a portable device and with earphones in. But fellowships, be not discouraged! Feel free to share your access code with your household and quest together, maybe using one of those headphone splitters. Or start the quest individually, on your own devices, and see which different places you end up.

ACTUALQUEST is designed to be played multiple times, with your choices unlocking a different path through the story. The quest… is yours

Tickets are available as ‘Pay What You Can’ – the suggested price for this event is £5 – but there are a range of ticket prices so you can choose what you can afford from the options, including £0 as we want as many people as possible to access our Homemakers commissions.

We’ve also included a higher option for anyone who wants to take the opportunity to make a larger donation to our artists and organisations. How much you choose to pay is completely up to you, and every audience member will receive exactly the same content and experience.

All the money raised from ticket sales for this event will be split evenly with 50% going directly to the artist and 50% to Lime Pictures’ response fund to allow them to continue to support future artists and commissions.

Homemakers Project Overview

Homemakers is a series of new commissions, where we invite our favourite artists and artistic partners to combine to create work at home, for an audience who are also at home.

We’re not pretending that all art can be experienced online just as satisfactorily as in person; but we want to demonstrate the innovation of artists who work all kinds of forms, by inviting them to respond to this very specific context. We want to bring contemporary new performance to audiences all over the world, in all its form-flexing, mind-expanding, surprising subversive brilliance.
