Shoot the Pianist

In a brilliant piece of casting, celebrated French chanteur Charles Aznavour stars in Truffaut’s whip-smart, scintillating second film – a combination of mischievous, tongue-in-cheek homage to American noir and effervescent, inventive Nouvelle Vague. Having left behind his life as a gifted concert pianist, Charlie sees out his downcast days tinkling the ivories in a dingy Parisian jazz bar.

One day, his brother Chico arrives, searching for sanctuary from a gang of crooks that he’s double-crossed. Charlie offers to help but soon finds his murky past catching up with him and before long is embroiled in an affair that he can no longer control.

Socially Distanced Screenings at HOME: An Update

From Mon 27 Dec until Sun 30 Jan, the majority of film screenings at HOME will be socially distanced.

How do our socially distanced screenings work?

When booking, please select whether you would like to sit at the front, middle or back of the screen.  You will automatically be allocated the best available seats in that area. Our booking system automatically places two empty seats either side of your booked seats.

When you arrive at HOME, please take a moment to check on your tickets which seats you have booked. If you are unsure of where to go, our staff will be on hand and happy to help. Once in the cinema, we ask that you stay in your allocated seat and do not move to sit with others.

What to expect when visiting HOME

We have a number of measures in place at HOME for the comfort and safety of our visitors. Find out more here.
