Ghosts do exist! A scientific discovery confirming their presence allows the living to ‘cross over’ and continue their existence on a new plane, free from the pain of their past. This intriguing notion sets up writer/director Elfman’s supernatural comedy-drama in which lost souls Rose and Teddy form a reluctant car-share couple for a cross-country road-trip to keep their terminal appointment. What they discover about themselves along the way transforms the film – already lovingly textured in terms of Parker and Kohli’s performances and striking visuals – into one of cinema’s most tender and original reckonings with the afterlife.
