Based on a true story, BRAINSTORM is a savage indictment of an outdated and cruel mental health system. Neto is an attractive teenager whose generic rebellion lands him in an asylum so that his father can have him under control. Excellent performances add poignancy to the film’s emotionally powerful underlying veracity.
