Nobuyoshi Kikuchi is a 75-year-old Japanese book maker, who has devoted his life to the design of over 15,000 books. In this intimate documentary three years in the making, director Nanako Hirose, an apprentice of renowned filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda, explores Kikuchi’s expert craftsmanship and creative process as he produces unique designs inspired by the books’ content. Hirose gives us a rare glimpse into the beauty of Kikuchi’s work as he meticulously handcrafts every aspect of the final book.
