Bata-ville: We are not afraid of the future

Directed by Nina Pope and Karen Guthrie

Led by artist-filmmakers/travel hostesses Pope and Guthrie, this is the document of a journey across Europe to the Czech Republic and to the heart of shoemaker Tomas Bata’s empire – which at one point included factories in Essex and Cumbria. Former workers of the now-closed sites travel by coach to see his utopian vision as they face a regenerated future.
