Panel Discussion/ Making it as an Artist Filmmaker

Defining yourself as an artist filmmaker, you might as well claim to be an orchid engineer or a cloud stylist. But a vocation can’t be helped; you are what you are! So what now? We will be rounding up a bunch of artist filmmakers at different stages in their career, from those just starting out to those with a little more experience, to talk through some helpful pointers.

From formats to practical considerations, screening opportunities and tips we wish we had been told, we’ll also discuss the necessity of seeing material and not only making it.

Introduced by HOME’s Bren O’Callaghan, an artist film producer and assistant director, this event will be chaired by Chris Paul Daniels, Lecturer in Filmmaking, at Manchester School of Art. We will be joined by artist filmmakers Nick Jordan, Laura Spark and Danielle Swindells.

You may wish to stay on and join us for the early afternoon screening of Spit That Out: North West Artist Film Programme at 13:30. Please do!
