Join Mike Bishop, Culture Champion and creator of the Theatre Trippers group, for a tour of the Manchester Open Exhibition. Mike Bishop is a one-man culture pioneer, encouraging local residents and older people to get-together and get involved with theatre, cinema and the arts around the city. He established the Theatre Trippers group in Miles Plattin, but its influence has now travelled far and wide. If there is an opportunity to find ways to get adults and older people, most of whom have never connected with the arts whatsoever, engaged with the arts, Mike will do it.
Manchester’s Culture Champions incentive is a volunteer ambassador scheme for older people within Manchester’s communities. Culture champions advocate, lead and programme activities for their peers.
The Theatre Trippers group (East Manchester) is a growing group of adult local residents with a membership of around 30 people aged 35-80. The idea behind the group is to combat any feeling of isolation and loneliness and to make new friends among neighbours.
