Dr Philip Sadgrove will give a personal overview of the story of Arab cinema, ranging from the socially-conscious ‘new’ Arab cinema of the 60s, with such figures as the great Egyptian director Youssef Chahine, to the small intimate stories of the new generation of Arab film makers from the Maghreb to Palestine.
Led by Philip Sadgrove, Centre for the Advanced Study of the Arab World, University of Manchester.
