ArtReach and Journeys 2018 present: Is Migration Natural?

Join artist and performer Akeim Toussaint Buck to discuss why the current negative portrayal of migration in the media seems to be at odds with one of the longest practices of humanity. To explore this Akeim will be joined by Dr Luis Eduardo Perez Murcia, a research fellow at University of Manchester, whose work looks at the relationship between conflict, displacement and the idea of home. Join us for an informal debate exploring the question and related issues it raises, with plenty of time for your questions and interactions.

Produced by ArtReach, Journeys is a vibrant, year-long programme of events that celebrates the creative talent of refugee and asylum seeker artists. Through a variety of great arts and cultural events that range from theatre, performance, dance and spoken word to visual arts, Journeys 2018 shares the powerful stories of the refugee experience.

For the second year, Journeys partners with Orbit Festival and joins the quest to provoke by questioning the way that we interpret our here and now.

Journeys Festival International returns as the main showcase of Journeys activity from 4 – 14 October 2018. Keep up to date with full programme at the Journeys Festival website.
