Carmen Herrero will introduce the themes and historical background to El espinazo del diablo. Students will have the opportunity to discuss the events depicted in the film in Spanish, as well as completing AS/A2 Level language exercises. Discussion will focus on themes of the family, friendship, war, the horror film and ‘cine fantástico’, narrative and representation, and characters. Background information on Spanish and Mexican cinemas will be provided.
