Projector Modern Foreign Languages

Film is a highly successful language learning tool for MFL students, enabling them to experience, first hand, the vocabulary, accents and colloquialisms of native speakers. Study sessions are programmed to enrich the specification topics. Projector sessions in French, German, Spanish and Urdu are led by experienced University lecturers.

Routes into Languages programme is a national project funded by Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE). The programme has created a number of regional consortia, where universities are working together, along with schools and colleges, to promote language learning.  The Routes North West consortium is led by Manchester Metropolitan University, in partnership with the University of Manchester, University of Salford, University of Central Lancashire, University of Liverpool, University of Lancaster, Edge Hill University and University of Chester.

The Routes into Languages project offers events that enthuse and motivate pupils to take up and continue with language learning.  Events include The Foreign Language Spelling Bee Competition (Year 7); Language Enrichment Events (Year 8 pupils); Film and Culture Events (Year 9 & 10); Essay Writing for Film (Year 12 & 13) and GCSE & A Level Days.  INSET and CPD sessions for teachers are programmed throughout the year.  For further information visit the Routes into Languages website.
