Are you ready for more exciting theatre, art and film?

It’s that time a year – we’re excited to share with you our new season of contemporary visual art, theatre and film from April to September.

Since last May, well over 600,000 of you have dropped in for a visit – thank you, for coming along, taking part, enjoying what we have on offer and, yes, making yourself at home. Our new season will present an eclectic line-up of exciting new productions, commissions, artistic collaborations and partnerships with the best regional, national and international companies, artists, writers, directors and producers.

Our theatre programme brings some of the world’s best companies, productions, directors and playwrights right to your doorstep. For this season, and following their award-winning production of Angel Meadow, we will welcome back ANU, as we premiere a new work, On Corporation Street, commissioned by HOME, which considers the impact of the IRA’s 1996 bombing of Manchester. And we will collaborate with leading theatre companies such as the Young Vic and Theatre de Ville on The Emperor, and Bryony Kimmings, the National Theatre and Complicite on A Pacifist’s Guide to the War on Cancer.

Our Spanish and Latin American Festival ¡Viva! is making a spectacular return, with a cross-art programme that for the first time ever includes newly-commissioned theatre productions and also features a residency with Cuba’s leading contemporary playwright, and a packed line-up of special guests, UK premieres and world-class Spanish and Latin American cinema from both new and established directors.

We have two major exhibitions of contemporary art, with new work and commissions from an array of international artists, including a group show inspired by Douglas Sirk’s influential film Imitation of Life and group exhibition Behind the Sun: Premio Marcantonio Vilica presenting a snapshot of new work from Brazil – plus the ever popular HOME Projects series which will allow you to explore work from artists from the region that extends beyond our galleries.

Our new film seasons showcase the best in contemporary and classic cinema, screening works by artists and filmmakers both established, with a programme of incredible breadth and diversity. Highlights include seasons that celebrate jazz on screen to the power of the cinematic soundtrack, co-curated with Barry Adamson.

We also have a lot on offer for families, with special screenings, plays and events specifically aimed to inspire and entertain children. And with tickets priced from just £5, we hope more people than ever before will come along and experience something new.
