“Captivating music, precise movements and words in varying rhythms, catchy song, rousing dance – these are the ingredients deftly spun together to surprise, move and amuse us.”
Denmark’s Holstebro Daglad on Scherzo for piano and stick
Scherzo is a dramatic duologue for piano and stick. In homage to Italian cartoonist Osvaldo Cavandoli’s celebrated 1970s cartoon series, La Linea, Mia Theil Have performs with a 1.90m long wooden stick in this fast-paced, meticulously crafted physical performance punctuated with short poems by Peter Oswald. With an original live score by Nikola Kodjabashia that moves between contemporary classical, world music and jazz, Scherzo follows in the footsteps of Insomnia, creating a shifting landscape of images and emotions, a kaleidoscope of imaginative transformations which are in turn light and impish and darkly unsettling. Costumes by Luis F. Carvalho and direction by Odin Teatret’s iconic Tage Larsen.
In association with Nordisk Teater Laboratorium.
