For questions like this and more, join us for LUCKY TONIGHT!, where quizmaster extraordinaire (and former contestant of The Chase!) Afreena will put you through your paces to help her tell her story. From the streets of Old Trafford to the coast of Chittagong, Afreena shares what it really means to be ‘British’ and ‘Bangladeshi’, whilst not really fitting in to either of them… 

LUCKY TONIGHT! is an interactive pub quiz-cum-theatre show written and performed by Afreena Islam-Wright and directed by Julia Samuels.  

About

Afreena Islam-Wright is a theatremaker and pub quiz host from Manchester. Her recent work includes Meet Me at the Cemetery Gates, an audio tour exploring grief, green spaces and Muslim funeral rites. Her previous work Daughters of the Curry Revolution toured nationally and internationally for two years.  

Julia Samuels is a freelance theatre-maker. From 2006-2021, she was Co-Artistic Director of award-winning Liverpool-based company 20 Stories High, making work through collaboration between artists and young people. Freelance directing projects include: Wind in the Willows (Shakespeare North Playhouse), Martha, Me & My Family by Saphena Aziz (Unity), Glowing by Amy Vreeke (Contact), 4 Dholis and a Divorce by Hafsah Aneela Bashir (HOME).
