LADY DAY AT EMERSON’S BAR AND GRILL

Performed by DAWN HOPE (Billie Holiday) and accompanied by WARREN WILLS (Jimmy Powers), Lady Day tells the story of a jazz legend.

In a small bar in south Philadelphia in March 1959, Billie Holiday is making one of her last appearances. In intimate surroundings she begins her evening’s cabaret and between songs gradually pours out the stories of her life, the heartaches and the triumphs.

Lady Day features more than a dozen of the songs that propelled Holiday to stardom, including ‘God Bless the Child’, ‘When A Man Loves a Woman’, ‘Don’t Explain’, ‘Strange Fruit’, and ‘Taint Nobody’s Biz-ness’, and many more.
