Who’s afraid of ghosts, ghouls and the occult? While our lives have become digital, exposed and always on, ghosts have been finding new ways to connect to us, to reach us, to haunt us. One of our most prolific and inspiring storytellers, Jeanette Winterson returns to MLF to launch her new book, Night Side of the River: Ghost Stories. She will read from her new collection and share some of her real life encounters with the occult. Entertaining, passionate and highly knowledgeable, Jeanette’s events are not to be missed.
Described as ‘the best living writer in this language’, Jeanette is the author of 13 novels including Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit, which was adapted into a BAFTA-winning BBC Drama, and FRANKISSSTEIN which was longlisted for the Booker Prize, as well as the international bestselling memoir Why Be Happy When You Could Be Normal? She is Professor of New Writing at The University of Manchester.
