Handles explores the consequences of a life lived through Facebook and Twitter; platforms which give us the opportunity to craft the best version of ourselves. A space where we are our own stylists, crafting the perfect life through tweets and updates to entertain an invisible digital audience. We tell lies and we exaggerate. We twist reality to suit our means; a relentless quest for the ideal self image.
Join us for this work in progress from award-winning short story writer Tom Mason. Handles was the winning concept in re:play Festival 2013’s Pitch Party and the performance, told in five short stories, combines live audience interaction to explore the human impact of social media weaving in tweets and Instagram photos from the audience to explore its key themes.
