An empowering showcase celebrating the best hip hop talent from the North West presented by award winning hip hop dance company Boy Blue.

After an intensive period of training with co-Artistic Directors Kenrick ‘H20’ Sandy MBE and Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante, the group will perform exhilarating pieces from the Boy Blue repertoire along with guest performances from local hip hop groups.

After the showcase, join us for the BSI Jam and dance the night away to the best in r’n’b, hip hop, funk, house and old skool music, as Boy Blue’s Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante and guests play their favourite tunes in the HOME bar.

About Boy Blue:

Award-winning dance company Boy Blue was founded in London in 2001 by choreographer Kenrick ‘H20’ Sandy MBE and composer Michael ‘Mikey J’ Asante. The company is an Artistic Associate of the Barbican.

Boy Blue’s credits include; Blak Whyte Gray (2017), nominated for Best New Dance Production at the 2017 Olivier Awards and Best Modern Choreography at the Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards, the film Emancipation of Expressionism (2017) (Dir. Danny Boyle) which is on the AQA GCSE Dance Syllabus, A Night with Boy Blue (2016, 2015, 2013), The Five & The Prophecy of Prana (2013), the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, Unleashed (2012) Touch (2011) and Pied Piper: A hip-hop dance revolution (2007) which won the Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre (Theatre Royal Stratford East).
