Electra is Sophocles’ explosive tale of lust, loyalty and betrayal within a family ripped apart in the aftermath of war.
Agamemnon lies dead and buried, murdered by his wife and her lover. His daughter Electra swears to exact revenge for her mother’s ambition. Impotent until the return of her brother Orestes, Electra rages in frustration against her mother’s vicious complacency and her sister’s inaction. However, when news arrives of Orestes’ death in a chariot race she determines to take control of the family’s destiny through bitter and savage revenge.
