Manchester Literature Festival presents

An Evening with Ruth Jones

Ruth Jones’ latest funny and uplifting novel, Love Untold, features four generations of a family: Grama Grace, about to turn 90 but as spritely as ever; her estranged daughter, Alys, who’s been absent for 32 years; Alys’ daughter Elin, a stressed head teacher with a marriage on the rocks, and Beca, Elin’s teenage daughter, who’s just beginning to find her way in the world. Can the women be reconciled and healed or are mother/daughter relationships destined for difficulty?

The BAFTA award-winning Welsh screenwriter, actor, comedian and novelist joins us for a special In Conversation about her career creating and playing characters on page and screen. Ruth is best-known for her award-winning television writing on Gavin and Stacey, in which she played the much-loved Nessa Jenkins, and Stella, in which she played the eponymous single mum of three. Her bestselling debut novel Never Greener was a WHSmith Fiction Book of the Year and was chosen for the Zoe Ball Book Club.

Hosted by Julia Wheeler.
