Chim↑Pom is an artist collective formed in 2005 in Tokyo. The group, once labeled by CNN as “the enfant terribles of Japanese art”, produces work responding to contemporary social and political issues with a strong social message. Their practice is multidisciplinary, focusing on video, installations and performances. Recently, they began curating exhibitions of other artists’ work.
The collective have exhibited internationally at galleries in London, New York, Beijing, Lisbon and Sidney, among others; and presented work at biennials in Shanghai and São Paulo. Chim↑Pom received the Prudential Eye Awards 2015 for the Best Emerging Artist Using Digital/Video and Best Emerging Artist of the Year, as well as winning the Re-Act: New Art Competition in 2007.
