Yellow Earth Academy Opportunity for British East Asian Performers

HOME is partnering with Yellow Earth Academy to provide a new opportunity for British East Asians* aged 16+.

The Performers Course is a new nationwide programme for British East Asian* performers across the UK.

You will learn more about the skills, craft, and strategies needed to work in the arts, build a network of fellow British East Asian artists, peers, mentors and gain opportunities to meet and work with local industry professionals.

*British East Asian: anyone of East or South-East Asian descent living and working in the UK.

With all the recent changes to our lives, Yellow Earth have decided to innovate the Performers Academy Manchester. Instead of the one-week course, they will host weekly online classes starting Tuesday 12 May until Thursday 9 July. On Thursday 16 and Friday 17 July they hope that everyone will be able to come together for the final sessions.

The course will be led by performance artist Stacy Makishi alongside sessions in voice, movement and clowning and weekly lunchtime Q and A’s on a range of topics with industry professionals.

So if you are you of East/South East Asian descent and based in the North West then please apply!

No acting experience required, just be prepared to connect, be curious and have fun!

Updated Timelines:

  • Deadline for applications Tuesday 5 May at noon
  • Meet and Greet online Thursday 7 May 4-5pm
  • Course begins online Tuesday 12 May – Thursday 9 July
  • Every Tuesday 10am-12pm and every Thursday 5pm-7pm plus additional talks with industry professionals over lunch on Tuesdays 12.30-1.30pm
