Careers in Film day workshop for young people aged 14-16

Have you ever wondered about working in Film? What interesting and exciting jobs exist in Film? What does it take? How do I find out about them? and where do I even start?

If you aged 14 – 16 and interested to find out all of this and more, join us at HOME’s Film Careers Day on Wednesday 26th October 2022 11am – 4pm.

Across the day you will:

  • Discover Creative Careers in Film.

Learn about lots of types of jobs and careers in everything from Acting, Casting, Directing, Producing, Cinematography, Artistic Direction, Running and Technical roles.

  • Learn practical filmmaking skills on a budget.

Enjoy a practical workshop with other like-minded young people where you can try your hand at a variety of film roles and see what you like best. No camera? No Equipment? No problem!

  • Meet industry professionals.

Chat to Film makers, Projectionists and Film festival producers about their journey to their roles and how they got to where they are. Get hints, tips and honest reflections of their experiences.

  • Explore your options and local routes into industry.

Learn about local opportunities to get into film from college courses, film programmes, Apprenticeships, Traineeships, Freelance work and being your own boss.

Led by the co-creator of leading Film and Digital Production Company; Modify Productions and Creative Producer at Malandra Jacks, Josh Wilkinson. Josh is also a Board Member of Contact Theatre and is recognised across the creative industries for his work in creative education.

Film Career’s Day runs as part of HOME’s Creative Careers Week during Manchester October Half Term 2022.
