Apply now for HOME’s BFI Film Academy 2023!

HOME are looking for 20 young filmmakers and film fans aged 16-19 to take part in our BFI Film Academy 2023. This intensive 3-month project will cover practical filmmaking, film theory, programming, distribution and certification.

During this project you will work with your fellow young filmmakers, and a range of industry professionals, as you make a short film from start to finish. You will learn about everything from development, production, post-production and marketing as you are guided through the filmmaking process.

Whether you are an avid filmmaker, have studied film or are just starting out with a passion to learn more, then this is the opportunity for you!

The Academy will cover:

  • 12 fictional short filmmaking sessions
  • 4 film theory sessions
  • 2 sessions on the business of film including certification and programming
  • Industry sessions and networking
  • Silver Arts Award qualification

The course is completely free to attend, with travel reimbursed and bursaries available for additional expenses. Participants must be 16 – 19, based in Manchester or Greater Manchester and you cannot apply if you are attending university.
