A cute dachshund puppy finds itself shuffled from one oddball owner to the next, including two couples, a veterinary nurse (Greta Gerwig), a screenwriter (Danny DeVito), and a bitter woman (Ellen Burstyn). The eighth feature from Todd Solondz is a disturbing portmanteau comedy that proves the director of Welcome to the Dollhouse (referenced here in the shape of Greta Gerwig playing an adult version of Dawn Wiener) and Happiness has lost none of his bite. Nothing is off limits and though dripping in delicious dark humour, this isn’t for the easily offended.
