In a small seaside village in Mauritania, daily rituals are observed, songs are passed down through generations, people wait for happiness. It is there that 17-year-old Abdallah stops off to visit his mum before emigrating to Europe. Unable to speak the local language he feels a stranger in his own country, more attuned to Western trends than native traditions. But he observes the microcosmic universe of the village and begins to understand its people.
