Cruz is a typical Catholic grandmother in Seville, dedicated to her husband, daughter and granddaughter, and to sewing costumes for the statues in her local church. But things begin to change when she briefly stumbles across some internet pornography and triggers a gentle sexual and sensual awakening. Cruz remains calm and collected throughout, but passion slowly bubbles under the surface and waits to be discovered in the meticulously crafted details of the film.
This delightful drama with a sprinkling of comedy is beautifully shot in slow, sensuous close-ups, with a pared back soundtrack and shallow depth of field that lets us linger lovingly on fabrics, food and the sense of touch. It’s never too late to be tempted.
