Time Out

Directed by Laurent Cantet

Cantet’s début feature HUMAN RESOURCES was an insightful and topical film about French workers and the 35 hour week. His follow-up takes an equally human yet different look at labour with the story of Vincent (Recoing) an ordinary husband and father, settled into his everyday life. Things appear to be going well when Vincent announces a promotion that will require him to work at a distant branch of the company during the week. Actually, Vincent’s new job revolves around deceiving his family and friends and entering into ever darker situations to maintain the lies. ‘From the writing through to the editing, the objective was to create the double subjectivity which makes Vincent the sincerest of liars, an actor of his own life.’ Laurent Cantet.
