Time of the Wolf

Directed by Michael Haneke

Following a devastating, unspecified catastrophe, a family is forced to go on the run. When the father is killed, they join another band of survivors, led by a malevolent capitalist with few scruples and excellent trading skills. This is a disaster movie as only Haneke (FUNNY GAMES, THE PIANO TEACHER) could make. No special effects but plenty of existential quandaries; peopled with the crème of French acting talent, and beautifully shot in an evocative chiaroscuro.
