Thelma

Directed by Josh Margolin

When 93-year-old Thelma Post gets duped by a phone scammer pretending to be her grandson, she sets out on a treacherous quest across the city to reclaim what was taken from her.

Filmmaker Josh Margolin taps into the real-life experiences of his own grandmother for this comedy about an unlikely action hero. Veteran character actor June Squibb delivers her first leading film role as the indefatigable Thelma, while blaxploitation icon Richard Roundtree makes his final screen appearance as her partner in crime-fighting, Ben.

Inspired by the upcoming release of Thelma, Gorton Women’s Group have chosen to screen Sister Act on Tues 23 July,  as another feel-good celebration of defiant, unapologetic and inspirational women.
