An actor trained in theatre who sustained his career through bit parts and supporting roles in the late 1980s and much of the 1990s, Irrfan’s breakthrough was arguably in Asif Kapadia’s arresting debut feature The Warrior.

Set in feudal Rajasthan, Irrfan plays Lafcadia, a guilt-ridden warrior who renounces violence and undergoes a spiritual journey in one of the most accomplished directorial debuts in British cinema.
