A great, energetic, early example of the Hong Kong crime film, The Swallow Thief tells the story of a young woman, Yinniu, the grand-daughter of veteran crime fighter Jiang Shoushan, who falls for a man who might be the Swallow Thief, a Robin Hood style criminal who robs the rich to give to the poor. When he is taken into custody, love drives Yinniu and her grandfather to embark upon a crime spree in order to free him.
