This elegiac epic from Portuguese filmmaker Pedro Pinho chronicles a bitter labour dispute sparked by the closure of a factory on the outskirts of Lisbon. Shot in 16mm, the film reflects on the plight of the working classes and how traditional employment roles are shifting. A challenging but rewarding experience with echoes of Godard at his most political.
The Nothing Factory is reviewed in our January Film Podcast at the 11.00 min mark.
We will be joined by director Pedro Pinho for a Q&A following the 19:15 screening on Fri 26 Jan.
