The Man with the Golden Arm

Directed by Otto Preminger

The first major Hollywood film to deal with the taboo subject of heroin addiction and the recipient of BBFC cuts, MAN is built around a brilliant leading performance by Sinatra. He plays an ex-con junkie trying to become a jazz drummer but dogged by his habit and the need to fuel it. An excellent jazz score and stylish jagged titles add to the film’s edgy texture.
