The Life and Deaths of Christopher Lee

Directed by Jon Spira

Innovative, informative and supremely entertaining, this documentary about Christopher Lee tells the fascinating story of the legendary British actor and horror cinema icon largely through his own words.

Director Spira draws from a wealth of archive material to whisk the viewer from Lee’s aristocratic beginnings and wartime experiences, through his image-defining work for Hammer and on up to his career-crowning roles in the Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings sagas.

Directors such as John Landis and Peter Jackson reminisce about working with Lee, while puppetry (a particularly expressive marionette voiced by Peter Serafinowicz) and animation bring memorable moments to life.
