One of Dede Allen’s first credits as an editor in her own right, The Hustler is today regarded as a Hollywood classic of the early 1960s. Paul Newman delivers one of his career best performances as ‘Fast Eddie’ Felson, an ambitious young pool player who wants to be the best. Allen’s editing ensures that the film and its iconic pool frames drip with atmosphere. Great acting support is provided by Jackie Gleason, Piper Laurie and George C. Scott.
