Renowned director Akerman’s latest work is a tale of obsessive love, based on Marcel Proust’s La Prisonnière. Simon and Ariane share a grand Parisian apartment. But this is all the sharing that Simon can tolerate. He jealously guards Ariane, constantly suspicious of her every move, and especially her taste for women. But Ariane is a free person, and during their most intimate moments, she gives herself yet escapes his grasp. With a nod to VERTIGO, the tension builds as his possessiveness escalates.
