Spanning 1946 – 1965, this programme illustrates the range of work by this pioneer of Czech animation. The early 2D work that came out of Trnka’s experience as an illustrator was revolutionary and dealt with difficult subjects whilst the latter unforgettable puppet films included parodies, literary adaptations, and an allegory on artistic freedom.
