The Abominable Snowman

Directed by Val Guest

Adapted by Kneale from his 1955 TV drama The Creature, this Hammer Films production uses the then-current ‘Yeti’ exploration craze to examine human curiosity and greed. While staying at a Tibetan monastery, Dr John Rollason (Cushing) and his British expedition team form an uneasy alliance with a rival American team led by Dr Tom Friend (Tucker). Together they head off on the trail of the mythical beasts said to inhabit the area, but nothing has prepared them for what they’ll find.

Tautly told by director Val Guest, this boasts strong, spirited performances and striking monochrome location footage shot in the Pyrenees.
