As a taster of the treats in store for this year’s Kinofilm Festival (Oct 20 – 28), a collection of shorts from the UK and beyond. Highlights include: The Manchester premiere of ABOUT A GIRL (9 mins). Shot in Ancoats with a local cast and crew, director Brian Percival’s short reveals the hopes and dreams of an average northern working-class teenage girl. The filmmakers will be on hand for Q&A after the screening. Scottish short LONG HAUL (dir Bob Blagden, 24 mins) follows the journey to Land’s End of an increasingly isolated lorry driver and a woman with a troubling secret.
